Adding a multicluster service package

Add a multicluster service package to the federation cluster repository.

Before you begin

A multicluster administrator, or a user with the SMC_CLUSTER_CONTROL can use the multicluster management console to manage multicluster service packages.

Procedure

  1. From the multicluster management console, click Resources > Service Packages > Service Packages.

A list of all service packages from the federation cluster repository displays.

  2. Click Add to open the add or update dialog.
  3. Specify the consumer path for this service package:
    1. Click the link next to the Parent Consumer field to open a select dialog.
    2. Select the specific consumer name and path to which the service package refers. You can expand that paths by clicking the plus (+) icon).
    3. Click Set Path.
The selected consumer path displays next to the Parent Consumer field.
  4. Click Choose File to browse for the service package you want to add, and select the service package to add.
  5. Specify how you want the service package name to display in the Service Packages list in the multicluster management console:
    • To use the file name as the service package name, select Use the filename as the package name and click Add.
    • To use the another name as the service package name, select Provide a name for the package, specify the service package name in the New name field, and click Add.
  6. Every service package-consumer path combination within the federation repository must be unique. If you specify a service name that already exists for a consumer in the repository, a dialog displays indicating this, asking you if you want to override the existing service package name with the one you are adding. Since this is a new service package (not one replacing an existing service package), then click Cancel to exit this dialog, and change the service package name in the New name field to avoid conflicts and overriding the existing one.

Results

If the service package that you select is dependent on other service packages, the system prompts you to take action before it can add your selected service package. Once successful, the Service Packages list within the multicluster management console includes the newly added service package name.
