Stopping notebooks in an instance group

When notebooks are associated with a instance group, you can stop a notebook independent of the instance group. You might need to stop a notebook for maintenance or to free up resources when the notebook is not in use.

Before you begin

  • To stop any notebook, you must be a cluster administrator or a consumer administrator. To stop your own notebook, you must have the Services Control permission.
  • The notebook service must be in the Started, Init, Allocating, Error, or Tentative state.

Notebooks are always stopped automatically when the associated instance group is stopped.

Procedure

  1. From the cluster management console, click Instance Groups.
  2. Select the instance group to which the notebook is associated.
  3. Click the Notebooks tab.
  4. Select the notebook and click Stop.

Results

After the notebook service is stopped, it is placed in the Defined state.
