Configuring global analysis database settings

Configure or verify the global analysis database settings. These settings apply to all analysis jobs unless they are overridden by project-specific analysis database settings.

Before you begin

  • You must have InfoSphere® Information Analyzer Data Administrator authority.
  • The analysis database must be created.
  • The data connection to the analysis database must be defined in IBM® InfoSphere Metadata Asset Manager.
  • The Host and Data Connection must be configured in IBM InfoSphere Metadata Asset Manager.
  • The JDBC Data Source must be configured in IBM WebSphere® Application Server.

About this task

The analysis database settings specify connection information to the database that stores analysis results and specifies some details about system-generated tables and columns. Some analysis settings are configured by default during installation. If the default settings were selected during installation, then validate the settings. If default settings were not selected, then you must configure and validate them.

Procedure

  1. From the InfoSphere Information Analyzer client Home icon, select Configuration > Analysis Settings.
  2. Click the Analysis Database tab.
  3. Verify that the connection details to the analysis database are correct or select different details.
Click the drop-down menus for a list of possible hosts, data connections and JDBC data sources.
The following table lists the default port numbers that are configured for the specified database type during InfoSphere Information Analyzer installation:
Table 1. Default port numbers for connecting to the analysis database
    Database type Default port number
    DB2® database 50000
    Microsoft SQL Server 1433
    Oracle 1521
  4. Click Validate. If the connection fails, verify that the database is running and is accessible.
  5. Verify or change the check box selection for Automatically register user-defined data rules output tables as project data source.
Select this check box only if you expect to use data rules. Check this box if you want the output tables from the data rules to automatically be registered as data sources for the project. By checking this box, output tables that are generated by rules can be used directly in the binding of another rule, and the output tables are displayed in lists of data sources that are available for analysis.
  6. Verify or change the value for Maximum Length for System-Generated Columns.
This value specifies the maximum number of characters in the names of output columns that are generated by data rules. The default is 30, which is the maximum length permitted by Oracle databases. If you are using another type of database for the analysis database, you can edit this value to specify the maximum length supported by the database. For example, for DB2 and SQL Server databases, the maximum is 128.
  7. Click Save All.
