Desktop, plug-in, and Web Start support for the Small Footprint JRE (Linux only)
In Docker and in the IBM® Cloud, you cannot use IBM runtime environment for Java™ functions that are associated with a user interface. Files associated with these functions are removed from the runtime environment to reduce memory and disk space.
Desktop files
These files are associated with desktop capabilities and are removed:
- lib/desktop
- lib/amd64/libsoundalsa.so
- lib/amd64/libsplashscreen.so
- lib/images/icons
Browser plug-in, Applet viewer, and Web Start support
These JAR files and libraries are removed because they support user interface functions:
- bin/ControlPanel
- bin/jcontrol
- bin/java_vm
- lib/amd64/libjavaplugin*.so
- lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
- lib/locale
- lib/plugin.jar
- plugin
- bin/javaws
- lib/deploy
- lib/amd64/libdeploy.so
- lib/security/javaws.policy
