LSF_ROOT_USER

UNIX only. Enables the root user to perform actions as a valid user from the LSF command line.

Syntax

LSF_ROOT_USER=Y | y | N | n

Description

If you need to temporarily run LSF commands with root privileges, specify LSF_ROOT_USER=Y in the lsf.conf file. When you are done, you must disable this parameter to ensure that your cluster remains secure.

Note: If you enabled user eauth with krb5 without enabling Kerberos user impersonation, LSF daemons do not run with root privileges even if you enable LSF_ROOT_USER=Y. You must use the su command to give root permissions to the LSF administrator instead.
Important: Only enable LSF_ROOT_USER=Y as a temporary configuration setting. When you are done, you must disable this parameter to ensure that your cluster remains secure.

Default

N. Root has no permission to execute LSF commands except for the following commands:

  • badmin ckconfig
  • badmin gpdckconfig
  • bdata showconf
  • bhosts -s
  • lsadmin ckconfig
  • lsadmin showconf
  • lsadmin limdebug
  • lsadmin limtime
