ODBC drivers

An ODBC driver uses a layer of code that translates the ODBC standard API calls that the application issues into vendor-specific functions. IBM® Netezza® supplies an ODBC driver for many supported platforms (32 bit and 64 bit) and for many different versions of the Netezza database.

ODBC drivers show the capabilities of the underlying data source, and each ODBC driver is designed for a particular database management system. To access a Netezza database, you cannot use an ODBC driver that is designed to access a different vendor's database

You can have only one ODBC driver installed on your system at a time. If you need a new driver, you can install the new driver over the existing driver.

Parameters define the properties of IBM Netezza ODBC drivers, which you configure either through the Driver Options tab of the ODBC Driver Setup window on Windows operating systems or the UNIX or Linux® .odbcinst.ini configuration file.
