Administering CICS Explorer
This information describes various administration tasks in CICS Explorer®, for example, controlling access to a CICS Explorer function, getting or configuring the online help, changing the language, starting another instance of CICS Explorer, switching the workspace, and updating and installing software.
- Enabling or disabling CICS Explorer product components
You can disable a product component and limit the function available to use. If a product component is disabled, you can enable it to make the associated function available to use. - Getting and configuring help
You can use the CICS Explorer online help to browse, search, and print product documentation. Context-sensitive help is provided that gives an overview of the current resource, task, or field. You can set how help is displayed, set the search scope to include external sources of information, and integrate additional documentation with the CICS Explorer help. - Starting CICS Explorer in a national language
By default, CICS Explorer opens in the national language set for your operating system or the product in which CICS Explorer is embedded, provided that CICS Explorer supports that language. You can launch the stand-alone CICS Explorer in any supported language, regardless of the operating system language. - Starting multiple instances of CICS Explorer
You can have more than one instance of CICS® Explorer running at the same time. Each instance must have its own workspace. - Switching workspaces
CICS Explorer uses a local workspace folder to save its data and configuration files. You might have more than one workspace, where each workspace contains a different configuration of CICS Explorer. You can switch workspaces at any time. - Reverting to a previous installation configuration
As you install, upgrade, and uninstall software in CICS Explorer, configuration snapshots are kept in a history. You can revert to a previous configuration to back out the results of an unsuccessful installation, upgrade, or uninstall. You can also revert CICS Explorer to a previous version. However, you must have access to an update site because when you upgrade the CICS Explorer product, previous versions are not saved.
