Using the IBM Rational License Key Center to obtain license keys

The IBM Rational® License Key Center is an online licensing tool that you use to generate or return your IBM Rational product license keys.

About this task

You must be a member of the IBM Rational License Key Center account for your company to access your license keys. When ordering Rational products from IBM, the person placing the order is setup as the account administrator and is sent a Welcome e-mail containing a temporary password for logging into the Rational License Key Center.

To access the Rational License Key Center:

Go to IBM Software Support for Rational products http://www.ibm.com/software/rational/support/licensing/.
Click Rational License Key Center and then click Continue.
Log in to the Rational License Key Center.

If you do not have a password to log in to Rational License Key Center take one of the following actions:

Contact the person who placed the order and have that person add you as a member of your company's account. To add a person to the account, log in to the Rational License Key Center. Use the Account members feature to add new members. After you are added, you will receive a Welcome e-mail from the Rational License Key Center with your temporary password and login instructions.
1. Connect to the IBM Rational licensing support site: http://www.ibm.com/software/rational/support/licensing/.
2. Navigate to the Rational License Key Center.
3. On the Rational License Key Center login page, select the “Don't have a password?” link.
4. Enter your contact information, the IBM Site Number and IBM Sales Order Number associated with your order. The person who placed the order will have both pieces of information in the IBM Proof of Entitlement (PoE) certificate they received from IBM by e-mail or hardcopy at the time of the purchase.
5. Once you are added as a member, you will receive a Welcome e-mail with your temporary password.
6. Log into the Rational License Key Centerusing your password.
  Note: The first time you log into the Rational License Key Center you are asked to change your temporary password.

After you generate your license key, the Rational License Key Center displays installation instructions for the license key. Converting a trial or evaluation version of the product to the permanent production version is as simple as installing the license key once you generate it from the Rational License Key Center. You do not need to uninstall or reinstall the product.
