Configuring for archiving data and protecting archived data and documents by using BC-ILM 3.0

SAP Application Server must be installed as a J2EE Engine, or as an ABAP Engine and a J2EE Engine. In addition, you need Tivoli® Storage Manager and FileNet® P8 5.2 or higher as repositories. However, from Content Collector for SAP Applications 4.0 fix pack 4 (4.0.0.4) or later, you need FileNet P8 5.5 or higher, for using FileNet P8 with BC-ILM 3.0.

About this task

Note: From Content Collector for SAP Applications 4.0 fix pack 4 (4.0.0.4), FileNet P8 is supported as an ILM repository with BC-ILM 3.0. Note that a Content Collector for SAP Applications instance can obtain only one logical archive at a time, either from the Tivoli Storage Manager or the FileNet P8 storage.
The following shows which parts of the Content Collector for SAP environment must be configured so that you can use BC-ILM 3.0.
Figure 1. Configuration of your Content Collector for SAP environment for using BC-ILM 3.0 with Tivoli Storage Manager repository
The architecture of the Content Collector for SAP environment showing only the parts that must be configured so that you can use BC-ILM 3.0. These parts include XML Data Archiving Service (XML DAS), a Collector Server instance, Tivoli Storage Manager, FileNet P8, and the communication between the Collector Server instance and SAP.
Figure 2. Configuration of your Content Collector for SAP environment for using BC-ILM 3.0 with FileNet P8 as an ILM repository
The architecture of the Content Collector for SAP environment showing only the parts that must be configured so that you can use BC-ILM 3.0. These parts include XML Data Archiving Service (XML DAS) or Storage and Retention Service (SRS), a Collector Server instance, Tivoli Storage Manager, FileNet P8, and the communication between the Collector Server instance and SAP.

The diagram illustrates how BC-ILM 3.0 protects unstructured archived content in FileNet P8 from standard ArchiveLink, that is referenced by structured ILM data. However, the content should be archived either in Tivoli Storage Manager or FileNet P8. That means, only one repository should be configured at a time for structured data. Using FileNet P8 with BC-ILM 3.0 is supported from Content Collector for SAP Applications 4.0 fix pack 4 (4.0.0.4) or later.

Figure 3. Configuration of your Content Collector for SAP environment for using BC-ILM 3.0 with FileNet P8 or TSM as an ILM repository and FileNte P8 or CM 8.6 as an unstructured archived content

From Content Collector for SAP Applications 4.0 fix pack 4 interim fix 9 (4.0.0.4 IF9), FileNet Content Manager 8.6 is supported as an unstructured archived content with BC-ILM 3.0.

If CM8 is used as an unstructured archived content from standard ArchiveLink, the item type used in the archive should be:
  1. Enabled to be put on hold.
  2. A retention policy should be applied in which system-controlled retention for Item retention period of 0 days and system-controlled expiration for Item expiration period of 0 days are enabled.
In your basic instance configuration, you configured the following parts:
  • An HTTP connection between the Collector Server instance and SAP.
  • The logical FileNet P8 archives where the documents are stored.
  • The logical Tivoli Storage Manager archive for BC-ILM. As BC-ILM version, you specified BC-ILM 3.0.

In a server configuration profile, you find the following specifications that relate to BC-ILM 3.0.

For Tivoli Storage Manager as an ILM repository:
Section in server configuration profile Keyword UI field that supplies the value Where to find the UI field in Configuration Feature
Global section WEBDAV_AUTH User for ILM-enabled data archiving Logical Archives > Tivoli Storage Manager for BC-ILM
ARCHIVE STORAGETYPE The selection of BC-ILM 3.0 results in the value TSM_WEBDAV_ILM3. Logical Archives > Logical Tivoli Storage Manager Archive for BC-ILM > General
For FileNet P8 as an ILM repository:

Note: Applicable only from Content Collector for SAP Applications 4.0 Fix Pack 4 (4.0.0.4).

Section in server configuration profile Keyword UI field that supplies the value Where to find the UI field in Configuration Feature
Global section WEBDAV_AUTH User for ILM-enabled data archiving Logical Archives > Logical Tivoli Storage Manager / FileNet P8 for BC-ILM > General
ARCHIVE STORAGETYPE The selection of Logical FileNet P8 Archive for BC-ILM results in the value P8_WEBDAV. Logical Archives > Logical FileNet P8 for BC-ILM > General

To use BC-ILM 3.0, you must also configure XML Data Archiving Service (XML DAS) and your SAP system or the Storage and Retention Service within your SAP system.

Procedure

  1. Create a root collection in the empty logical archive.
  2. Configure ILM store using XML Data Archiving Service or
Configure ILM store using the Storage and Retention Service.
