Follow these instructions if you are installing IBM® WebSphere® Application Server
Developer Tools for Eclipse from
a DVD or from an electronic image that you downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage®.
Before you begin
- Ensure that your computer meets the system requirements for the
software that you are installing.
- If you downloaded the software from IBM Passport Advantage,
ensure that you extracted the contents of the compressed files. The
extracted contents are in the WDT/disk1 directory
where you extracted the contents.
- If you want Installation Manager to search for the latest available
version of the software that you are installing, ensure that you are
connected to the Internet.
Procedure
- If you are installing from an electronic image, change
to directory where you extracted the contents of the compressed file
and change to the WDT/disk1 directory. If you
are installing from the DVD, change to the root directory of the disk.
- Depending on your user ID, complete one of the following
steps:
- If your user account has authority to install software
as an administrator:
- Start the launchpad:
- Click Install IBM WebSphere Application Server
Developer Tools for Eclipse.
- If your user account does not have authority to install
software as an administrator: Run the userinst program:
- If the launchpad program started automatically, stop it.
- In a command line, run the following command for your operating
system:
- : Run InstallerImage_win32\userinst.exe.
- : Run InstallerImage_linux/userinst.
IBM Installation
Manager starts and opens the Install Packages wizard.
- On the Install Packages screen, both IBM WebSphere Application Server
Developer Tools for Eclipse and IBM Installation Manager are
selected for installation. If you already have the required version
of IBM Installation Manager
installed on your computer, then only IBM WebSphere Application Server
Developer Tools for Eclipse is
shown.
- To search for updates to the packages, click Check
for Other Versions and Extensions to install the latest
available version. If a newer version is available, it is automatically
selected for installation.
- Click Next.
- On the Validation Results page, click Next.
- On the Licenses page, read the license agreements for the
selected packages. If you agree to the terms of all of the license
agreements, click I accept the terms of the license agreements and
then click Next.
- If you do not already have a version of IBM Installation Manager installed on your computer,
then you must specify the following installation directories and then
click Next:
- In the Shared Resources Directory field,
type the directory path for installing shared resources, or accept
the default path. If you are installing on Linux, ensure that you do not include any spaces
in the directory path.
Note: Use your disk with the most
available space for to help ensure adequate space for the shared resources
of future packages. You cannot change the shared resources directory
location unless you uninstall all packages.
- In the Installation Manager Directory field,
type the path for the directory where you want to install Installation
Manager, or accept the default path.
- On the Location page:
- In the Installation Directory field,
type the path for the directory where you want to install the product,
or accept the default path directory.
- If you operating system is 64-bit, then select 64-bit or 32-bit to
install the product in the corresponding bit mode.
- Click Next.
- On the Features page under Languages,
select the languages for the package group. The corresponding national
language translations for the user interface and documentation for
the product package is installed.
- On the next Features page, select the package
features that you want to install and then click Next.
- AJAX, Dojo, and HTML
Provides tools
for building web applications using JavaScript, Dojo, XML, HTML, and
CSS.
- Dojo Toolkit libraries
Provides the
Dojo Toolkit libraries for building web applications.
- JSP and servlet
Provides tools for
building web applications using JSP, servlets, and HTML.
- Java EE and web services
Provides
tools for developing Java EE applications, including tools for enhanced
validating and refactoring.
- OSGi Application
Provides tools for
developing and maintaining OSGi-based applications and bundles, including
tools for enhanced validating and refactoring.
- WebSphere Application Server 8.5 - Liberty Profile
Provides
a lightweight set of tools for developing, assembling, and deploying
applications to WebSphere Application Server 8.5 - Liberty Profile.
- WebSphere Application Server 8.5
Provides
tools for creating and deploying applications for WebSphere Application
Server 8.5.
- WebSphere Application Server 8.0
Provides
tools for creating and deploying applications for WebSphere Application
Server 8.0.
- WebSphere Application Server 7.0
Provides
tools for creating and deploying applications for WebSphere Application
Server 7.0.
- On the help system configuration page, select one of the
following options and then click Next:
- Access help from the Web
- Download help and access content locally
- Access help from a server on your intranet
- Confirm your installation summary information and then
click Install. The installation process starts. A progress indicator shows the percentage of the installation
completed.
- When the installation process is complete, a message confirms
the success of the process.
- Click View log file to open the
installation log file for the current session in a new window. You
must close the Installation Log window to continue.
- In the Install Package wizard, select whether you want
the product to start when you exit.
- Click Finish to start the selected
package. The Install Package wizard closes and you are returned to
the Start page of Installation Manager.
