Updating closed services
After a service is closed, you can update the closure details if needed, for example, if the service was provided for longer than was originally recorded. You can view a history of changes to closed services on the Service homepage.
About this task
If you use budgets, you cannot update the closure details while the budget is pending approval.
You can update the closure details when the most recent budget is closed. You can update the outcome or move the end date back, but you cannot extend the end date. To avoid potential budget overspend, if a service was ended before the end date of a closed budget, you cannot update the service end date to a later end date. To update the closure details while the budget is pending approval, cancel the budget approval request, change the closure date, and submit the budget again.
- If the payments are authorized for the service and the payment authorization status is Final Payment Authorized, when you update the closure date the final payment period, final payment date, and final payment amount is recalculated and payment is made based on the updated information. If the updated end date is before the most recent payment date then no further payments are made.
- If payments are authorized for the service and the final payment has been made, updating the service closure details will not result in additional payments to the provider.
- If the service was closed before the first payment was made and the payment was canceled, changing the date will not trigger any payment.
