Configuration

Configuration of OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS involves setting values for a set of configuration parameters using Configuration manager or PARMGEN.

IBM Z® Monitoring Configuration Manager is a tool that configures an OMEGAMON runtime environment from a set of parameters that you specify. Configuration Manager is designed to reduce configuration time and effort by collecting the parameters you are likely to need and automating much of the process and investigation needed to configure OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS. For more information, see Introduction to Configuration Manager.

The PARMGEN method takes a runtime environment oriented approach to configuration. With PARMGEN, you edit a comprehensive list of parameters to configure a runtime environment and all the installed products and components in it. You then submit a series of jobs to create a complete runtime environment with the parameter values that you specified.

See the Overview, Planning, and Configuring sections of the OMEGAMON® Shared Documentation and the Scenarios and how-tos section of the OMEGAMON Shared Documentation for more information about PARMGEN. When you complete PARMGEN configuration, there are additional steps that you must perform to complete the configuration.

The instructions in this information make the following assumptions:

  • If required, a Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server was configured in the runtime environment, as described in the Planning and Configuring sections of the OMEGAMON Shared Documentation .
  • You read the sections of Planning and understand the decisions that you have to make during configuration.

Configuring OMEGAMON for Messaging using the Configuration Manager method describes how to configure the OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS components using Config Manager.

Configuring OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS using PARMGEN method describes how to configure the OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS components using PARMGEN.

Completing the configuration describes the tasks you must perform outside the configuration profile to complete the configuration of OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS.
