Troubleshooting
Log and trace messages are captured in .log files in the logs directory of each server. You can use these messages to troubleshoot problems with the Decision Server Insights run time and the server.
- Gathering diagnostic data
If you discover performance issues with Insight Server and you require help to diagnose them, gather data for problem determination and send this data to IBM®. IBM support teams can then more easily identify the problem and find resolutions. - Server log settings
Default log levels are set for each server type. You change the level for a log by editing the server.xml files, and in some cases the bootstrap.properties file. - Finding useful information in log files
The various log files contain useful information and error messages to help you troubleshoot your solution. - Resolving script errors
When you run Decision Server Insights scripts to manage solutions, set properties or initiate analytics jobs, you might encounter an error message if a script does not run successfully. To troubleshoot and resolve script errors, you must understand the script error codes. - Resolving null relationship exception errors
You can resolve exception errors that occur because of a null relationship for a bound entity. This type of error might prevent events from being processed in Insight Inspector. - Disabling iptables firewall on Linux
Iptables is a built-in firewall in most Linux distributions. You might need to disable your iptables firewall on Linux for testing purposes. - Resolving OutOfMemoryError: Failed to create a thread
The java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Failed to create a thread message occurs when the system does not have enough resources to create a new thread. - Object grid transaction exceptions
Under normal circumstances, a production server reports errors to a client only as the last option; if everything else fails. When a solution gateway receives an event but is unable to process it for some reason or another, the server does send a transaction exception back to the client. You must control what action to take when a transaction exception is returned.
