Extending Eclipse with the Insight Designer update sites

After you install the update site for Insight Designer, add the software to an existing Eclipse.

Before you begin

You must have access to both the <InstallDir>/updatesite/cis directory, which contains the compressed files for Insight Designer, and the <InstallDir>/updatesite/wdt/ directory, which contains the compressed files for WebSphere® Application Server Developer Tools.

Be sure to install the appropriate patch level for your Eclipse version.

Important: You must set the default JDK used by your Eclipse environment to 1.8.

Procedure

  1. Start Eclipse.
  2. Add Insight Designer to your Eclipse environment.
    1. Click Help > Install New Software.
    2. Click Add.
    3. Click Local and locate the update site directory. The update sites for Insight Designer are in the <InstallDir>/updatesite/cis directory.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Select Insight Designer and click Next.
    6. Review and accept the terms of the license agreements, and then click Finish.
    7. Accept the security warning about unsigned content.
    8. You are prompted to restart your Eclipse environment. Click OK.
    9. In the configuration/config.ini file of your Eclipse installation, add the IBM_DS_HOME property to define the Decision Server Insights installation directory.

      The installation directory contains the components for Decision Server, such as runtime and sample.

      For example, IBM_DS_HOME=C:\IBM\ODMInsights891.

      You can copy this property from the configuration/config.ini file provided with the installation of Decision Server.

  3. Restart your Eclipse environment.
  4. Optional: Add WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools.
    1. Click Help > Install New Software.
    2. Click Add.
    3. Click Local and locate the update site directory. The update sites for WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools are in the <InstallDir>/updatesite/wdt/ directory.
    4. Click OK, and then OK
    5. Select WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools for Eclipse and WebSphere Application Server V8.5 Liberty Profile Server Adapter.
    6. Review and accept the terms of the license agreements, and then click Finish.
    7. You are prompted to restart your Eclipse environment, click OK.
