Designing a BOM for a PL/I model

You generate a BOM for a PL/I model from a PL/I XOM. You generate the PL/I XOM from a PL/I include file.

Before you begin

Restriction: The PL/I importer is supported on Windows operating systems only and not available on Linux operating systems. Therefore, the PL/I management feature in Rule Designer is not supported on Linux operating systems.
  • PL/I data models and execution options
    You can define an execution object model (XOM) from a PL/I include file. You can also deploy rules in various ways for execution on z/OS®, and share rules between Java and PL/I platforms.

    Before you generate a XOM from a PL/I include file, PL/I data types are mapped to Java types.

    Ensure the include file importer options match the locale and character settings of the PL/I calling program.

    If the BIT string type that has multiple bits is in the PL/I include file, it maps to the BitSet class in Java. Before you author action rules that use the operations that are defined in the BitSet class, you must import the java.util.BitSet class and define the vocabulary. The Java BitSet class is imported in the BOM.
