IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Centera fixed content device

A FileNet® P8 fixed storage area can use the EMC Centera fixed content device for storing content element files. The content can belong to documents from different object stores. In addition, the object stores can belong to different FileNet P8 domains.

The Content Platform Engine component that migrates the content element files to the EMC Centera device is the fixed content provider.

When object content is deleted from an EMC Centera fixed content device, the data on the fixed content device is scrubbed, that is, it is overwritten in a manner that prevents it from being read in the future. For staging area files, data scrubbing occurs in accordance with the delete method that you selected for the storage area. EMC Centera supports scrubbing content on object content deletion and the content is over-written in a manner that prevents it from being read in the future.

Start of changeIn V5.2.1.7 and later, Elastic Cloud Storage V3.0 is also supported as an EMC Centera fixed content device. Elastic Cloud Storage V3.0 supports the EMC Centera event-based retention features.End of change

Restriction: No mechanism is available for scrubbing indexed content from the CBR indexes. As a result, indexing and scrubbing can potentially conflict with one another. Fixed file stores support destructive delete. This feature writes a bit pattern over the file contents, but does not necessarily destroy the data. To ensure that all content is deleted, use the nonrecoverable Area Delete Method option. The destructive or purge options have limited application.
