Defining the workflow system

A workflow system is a collection of isolated regions. An isolated region contains the queues, rosters, and event logs that are necessary to create and process workflows. A workflow system uses the same database connection and schema as the object store with which it is associated. An object store can contain only one workflow system.

About this task

Tip: If you upgraded from a previous release, you might have workflow systems that are considered legacy workflow systems. Legacy workflow systems have the following characteristics:
  • A legacy workflow system is not associated with an object store.
  • A legacy workflow system cannot be used as the foundation for an IBM®® Case Manager system.
  • You cannot create a legacy workflow system.
You can migrate a legacy workflow system to a workflow system by associating the legacy workflow system with an object store. After a workflow system is migrated, it cannot revert to a legacy workflow system.
