Protecting applications

You must register the database applications that you want to protect in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus and then create jobs to back up and restore the databases and resources that are associated with the applications.

Note: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus may create folders on application servers when applications are registered in SPP. Folders created by IBM Spectrum Protect Plus will need to remain for the product to function properly and should not be removed. If there is a need to remove SPP created folder, unregister the application from SPP. SPP will perform a cleanup of folders associated with the registration.

You may not assign more than one application per machine as an application server to a resource group. For example, if SQL and Exchange occupy the same machine and both are registered in SPP, only one of those can be added as an application server to a given resource group.
