Release notes - IBM InfoSphere Optim data privacy components, Version 11, Release 3
Version 11, Release 3 of the IBM® InfoSphere® Optim™ data privacy components is now available. The data privacy components are used to transform or mask sensitive data, such as national ID numbers, credit card numbers, dates, numeric values, and personal information. These release notes address compatibility, installation, and other getting-started issues.

Description
The data privacy components provide support for data masking in addition to the data masking abilities supported through the use of column maps within the Optim solution. Data masking features help you to prevent misuse of information by masking, obfuscating, and privatizing personal information that is propagated outside your production environment.
There are three data privacy components:
- A data privacy application that provides a graphical user interface and a command-line interface to mask data in CSV and XML files. You also can use the command-line interface to mask data originating in a Hadoop environment.
- A stand-alone API (Optim data privacy providers or ODPP) that provides a flexible and extensible means of accessing predefined and user-developed data masking services with no need to install the Optim Test Data Management Solution. Functions in this API can be called from user-developed applications, column map exits, and Lua scripts for column map procedures. The functions provide consistent, repeatable data masking results regardless of the application or platform. Note that column map exit and Lua support for these functions is an integral part of the Data Privacy option for the Optim Test Data Management Solution; you need not install the API separately to use this support.
- User-defined functions (UDFs) for databases can be included in SQL scripts or statements to dynamically mask data within the framework of the DBMS server so that the data is masked in place without leaving the database.
What's new
- Added Optim data privacy UDF support for DB2® for Linux®, UNIX, and Windows.
- Added SMP/E packaging for the Optim Data Privacy Solution for z/OS®.
- Added support for the FPE (Format Preserving Encryption) keyword in the Affinity data privacy provider.
- Improved tracing for the Optim data privacy providers.
What's new in 11.3.0 Fix Pack 5
- Java API.
A Java API has been added to allow Java programs to invoke ODPP. Information about the API can be found in the file Samples\JavaAPI\README.txt under the Optim installation directory. The Javadoc files describing the public classes of the API can be found in the directory ODPP\Doc\JavaAPI\JavaDoc under that Optim installation directory. Also, there are sample files in the directory ODPP\Samples\JavaAPI under the Optim installation directory.
- Mastercard 2-Series BIN implementation
Mastercard has rolled out an additional range of six-digit BINs (222100 – 272099). The ODPP Credit Card Number Masking (CCN) Service Provider has been updated to recognize and properly handle the Mastercard 2-Series BIN implementation.
- SQL Server as Lookup data source.
ODPP now allows Microsoft SQL Server data bases to be used as a data source for the Plain, Hash and Random Lookup providers.
To utilize this, specify LIB=MSS in the masking string:
PRO=LOOKUP,ID=user.OPTIM_US_PERSON,LIB=MSS, CONN=dbconn,…
- Data Privacy application upgrades.
- Java 1.8.
The Data Privacy application now ships and utilizes Java 1.8.
- WebSphere Liberty Profile.
The Data Privacy application now ships and utilizes Web Sphere Liberty Profile 8.5.5.5.
- Java 1.8.

Licensing considerations for Optim releases prior to 11.3.0.4
Upon initial installation of the Optim solution, the following license information can be used for a full function trial of the solution:
- Company Name: OPTIMDEMO
- Company ID: 388713
- Company Password: 9863ZU
- License Key: LRIOLG-FVKFPN-STMBJ7-QY7EZS-4ZWSG1
If you are not licensed to use data privacy, contact your IBM representative for information about how to obtain a license key that includes data privacy. Your license key identifies the Optim features you are entitled to use, such as the data privacy components.
After you obtain a license key that includes data privacy, you can use the license program to generate the license files that are required to use any data privacy component.
If you are licensed to use data privacy but you misplaced your Optim license key, send an email to optkeys@us.ibm.com
to obtain a duplicate license key.
Licensing considerations for Optim release 11.3.0.4 and above
License keys are no longer required to install and use Optim starting with version 11.3.0.4. Please follow the installation instructions found in IBM Tech Note: Optim, Optim Connect, ODM, and Optim zOS Licensing
