IBM Integration Bus features requiring supplementary products

IBM® Integration Bus has no mandatory prerequisites; however, a subset of capabilities require access to other products.

These features affect the main IBM Integration Bus product operations, not your applications. For information about how these products integrate with IBM Integration Bus, see IBM Integration Bus technical overview. For more information about IBM Integration Bus features that have specific requirements, such as a particular mode of operation, product licenses, or access to additional products, see IBM Integration features.

The following table shows the products and systems that are required for specific capabilities in IBM Integration Bus:
Capabilities Required system
WebSphere MQ capabilities:
  • MQ nodes
  • MQ FTE nodes
  • SCA nodes
  • CD nodes
  • SAP nodes
  • Sequence nodes
  • Timeout nodes
  • Aggregate nodes
  • Collector nodes
  • Record-Replay capability
  • Global transaction support on distributed platforms
  • HTTP Proxy

WebSphere MQ

Database capabilities:
  • Database nodes
For a full list of compatible databases, review the Detailed System Requirements in the IBM Integration Bus system requirements for your operating system.
Security profiles Any of the following systems or protocols:
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
  • Tivoli® Federated Identity Manager (TFIM)
  • Microsoft Active Directory (MSAD)

Review the following sections to learn what is required to use these capabilities.

WebSphere MQ

On distributed systems, WebSphere MQ is not provided as part of the IBM Integration Bus installation package; however, when you purchase a license for IBM Integration Bus, your license entitles you to install and use WebSphere MQ. If you choose to use the IBM Integration Bus features that require MQ functionality, you can install and use WebSphere MQ within the terms of the license. You can install WebSphere MQ at any time.

The following functions require access to system queues on a queue manager that is specified on the integration node:
  • Sequence nodes
  • Timeout nodes
  • Aggregate nodes
  • Collector nodes
  • Record-Replay capability
  • CD nodes
  • HTTP Proxy

If you want to use these functions, you must specify a queue manager for the integration node, and then explicitly define a set of MQ objects for that queue manager. For more information, see mqsicreatebroker command.

On z/OS®, WebSphere MQ is supplied as part of installation, and all required system queues are created when you create an integration node.

The following table shows the minimum supported level of WebSphere MQ that is required by the subset of IBM Integration Bus features listed previously:

Table 1. WebSphere MQ requirements
Operating system Requirements
All distributed systems1 WebSphere MQ Version 7.5.0.1 2, 3
z/OS4 WebSphere MQ Version 7.1 with WebSphere MQ Java™ Classes feature

For details of WebSphere MQ products and supported versions, see the WebSphere MQ product information.

Database capabilities

You can connect a number of databases with IBM Integration Bus. To learn more about databases, see Databases overview.
