Chart Appearance Settings

You can override the default settings for color cycles, grid lines, and frames. You can also specify a different template.

  1. Click the Chart Appearance tab in the side bar of the Chart Builder. (If the side bar is not displayed, click the button in the upper right corner of the Chart Builder to display the side bar.)
  2. Change settings to customize the chart appearance.
Edit Appearance
You can override the chart template settings for color cycles, grid lines, and chart frames.
Colors
Changes the colors that are used in charts that have a grouping or stacking variable.
Frame
Controls the display of inner and outer frame borders.
Grid Lines
Controls the display of X axis (vertical) and Y axis (horizontal) grid lines.
Template
You can choose to use settings that are defined in Edit > Options > Charts, select an installed chart template from the drop-down list, or select a chart template from another location.
Any element attributes defined in the selected template file override the default template settings for those element attributes. Custom color cycle, frame, and grid lines settings that are specified in the Edit Appearance group override both the selected template and the default template.
