Using exit routines

This chapter discusses how exit routines work, presents some of their advantages and disadvantages, and describes procedures to follow in using them. Additional detailed considerations related to exit routines are discussed in Establishing and terminating sessions with logical units, Communicating with logical units, and Operating system facilities. An overview of exit routines is given in VTAM language. In particular, Normal operating system environment for a VTAM application program should be read as background information for this chapter (for example, for definitions of inline exit routine, asynchronous exit routine, and mainline program).
