End-of-Volume on output
The system's EOV routine automatically switches volumes when one
of the following EOV conditions occur:
- The reflective strip on a reel is encountered
- The logical end of a tape cartridge is reached
- The FEOV macro is executed
The EOV routine:
- Checks whether the expected number of blocks were written (see Verifying block count)
- Writes one tape mark after the data set on the current volume
- Checks the new volume to ensure that the volume does not contain a standard volume label
The output is then continued on the new volume
