Conflicting session options
After you enter the START session command from the operator console to start a background session, RMF™ processes the session options in a certain order (see How RMF processes session options). Some options cannot be used concurrently, and may cause conflicts. Should any conflicts occur, RMF detects the mutually-exclusive options during input merge and selects compatible values for these options. Messages notify the operator of the selections made. The possible conflicts are:
Conflict | Problem | RMF Resolution |
---|---|---|
NOREPORT and NORECORD specified | No way for installation to obtain measurement data | Change NOREPORT to REPORT (DEFER) |
STOP value specified is less than SINTV | Indicates session termination before obtaining any data | Set STOP value equal to SINTV value |
REPORT(DEFER) and NOSTOP specified | SYSOUT becomes cluttered with unprinted reports | Change NOSTOP to STOP set equal to SINTV value |
