Requesting data set information from the BCDS
Table 1 explains the output labels for a list of all data sets, all data sets that have the same first qualifier, a specific data set, or list of any copy pools that a volume is a part of.
Printer Output Label (OUTDATASET or SYSOUT) | Terminal Label | Description |
---|---|---|
DSNAME | DSN | This field indicates the data set name of the data set that was backed up. |
BACKUP FREQ | BACK FREQ | This field indicates the number of days that must elapse after DFSMShsm backs up a data set before DFSMShsm can automatically back up the data set again. "***" indicates that the data set is SMS-managed. |
MAX ACTIVE BACKUP VERSIONS | MAX VERS | This field indicates the maximum number of backup versions of the data set that DFSMShsm is to keep. If more than one data set has backup versions with the same data set name, DFSMShsm can list more than the maximum number of backup versions. "**" indicates that the data set is SMS-managed. |
BACKUP VERSION DATA SET NAME | BDSN | This field indicates the data set name of the backup version. |
BACKUP |
BACKVOL | This field indicates the volume serial number of the volume the backup version is on. The volume can be a backup volume or a migration level 1 volume. |
FROM |
FRVOL | This field indicates the volume serial number of the primary volume where the data set is when DFSMShsm makes the backup version. If the data set is migrated at the time of backup, this field contains the volume serial number of the primary volume from which the data set migrates. |
BACKUP |
BACKDATE | This field indicates the date the backup version was created. |
BACKUP |
BACKTIME | This field indicates the time the backup version was created. |
SYS |
CAT | This field indicates (YES or NO) that the backup version was made from a cataloged data set. |
GEN |
GEN | This field indicates the generation number of the backup version. The most recent backup version is 0, the next most recent is 1, and so forth. "***" indicates that the version is a retained backup copy. |
VER |
VER | This field indicates the version number of the backup version. This is an absolute number that uniquely identifies this backup version during its life span. The numbering begins at 1 for the first backup version of the data set. "***" indicates that the version is a retained backup copy. |
UNS/ |
UNS/RET | This field indicates special or exception conditions.
|
RET |
RETDAYS | This field indicates the RETAINDAYS keyword was active at the time of the backup. The value represents the minimum number of days that DFSMShsm maintains the backup copy. "*****" indicates that RETAINDAYS was not specified. |
RACF IND | This field indicates (YES or NO) if the RACF® indicator was on at the time of backup.
Note: The RACF IND
field is displayed only when the output destination is TERMINAL.
|
|
BACKUP |
BACK PROF | This field indicates (YES or NO) if a RACF discrete backup profile exists. |
NEW |
This field consists of three single-character
placeholders. The single-character placeholders are explained:
Note: The NEWNAME field is displayed only when the
output destination is OUTDATASET or SYSOUT.
|
|
NEWNM | This field indicates (YES or NO) if NEWNAME
was specified at the time of backup.
Note: The NEWNM field
is displayed only when the output destination is TERMINAL.
|
|
NOSPH | This field indicates:
Note: The NOSPH field is displayed only when the
output destination is TERMINAL.
|
|
GVCN | This field indicates:
Note: The GVCN field is displayed only when the
output destination is TERMINAL.
|
|
TOTAL BACKUP VERSIONS | TOTAL BACKUP VERSIONS | This field indicates the total number of data set backup versions. |
