REQUEST and NOREQUEST: Specifying whether the operator's permission is required
Explanation
REQUEST and NOREQUEST are mutually exclusive, optional parameters
specifying whether the operator’s permission is required before
DFSMShsm starts any of the following actions:
- automatic primary space management
- automatic secondary space management
- interval migration
- automatic backup
- automatic dump
Note: Operator permission is never required for on-demand
migration, even if SETSYS REQUEST is specified.
- REQUEST
- Operator’s permission is required before DFSMShsm starts any of the actions listed above.
- NOREQUEST
- Operator’s permission is not required before DFSMShsm starts any of the actions listed above.
SMS relationship
Parameter has the same meaning when applied to SMS-managed or non-SMS-managed DASD volumes or data sets.
SETSYS default
None.
DFSMShsm default
If you do not specify this parameter on any SETSYS command, the DFSMShsm default is NOREQUEST.
