Possible problems
In an environment in which the storage groups and storage classes
do not change, the preceding results are acceptable for DFSMShsm to
manage the data sets. However, you can expect problems in an environment
that is subject to storage group reconfiguration or to changes in
the mapping of data sets to storage classes. These problems may discourage
the use of DFSMShsm space management for these data sets and may require
special contingency procedures for availability management. The problems
that occur relate to the following conditions:
- Changes in the storage group
- Changes in the storage class to data set mapping
- Conversions of data sets to GUARANTEED SPACE
Note: Use of extended address volumes in mixed environment
where the volume cannot be brought online to all systems can also
result in problems recalling and recovering data sets that belong
to a Storage Class having the Guaranteed Space attribute.
