dsname: Specifying the name of the data set to be backed up
Explanation: dsname is a required positional parameter specifying the fully qualified name of the data set you want DFSMShsm to back up. For dsname, substitute the fully qualified name of the data set.
Defaults: None.
Note:
- Because dsname is a required positional parameter, you must specify it immediately after the command name. You cannot specify an alias for dsname. If you do, DFSMShsm does not backup the data set.
- The volume where the data set resides must be mounted before you issue the BACKDS command.
- DFSMShsm does not handle partitioned data set members individually. a member name of a partitioned data set, DFSMShsm backs up the entire partitioned data set.
