When you identify a data item through READ_DATA, REG_NAMELIST, WRITE_DATA, or WRITE_DATALIST requests on IXLCACHE, the system also registers your connection as having interest in the data item. Having registered interest ensures that the system can indicate, through each user's local cache vector, whether the user's locally cached copy of the data for the data item is valid.
