The rebuild and duplexing rebuild processes involve a series of
established phases, during which all active connectors to the structure
coordinate their activities through MVS™.
The responsibility for managing the structure and its contents during
these phases is that of the connector to the structure. The phases
are:
Connectors enter and leave each of these phases based on event notification through their event exits. The events indicate to the connected user the start or completion of a specific phase of the rebuild process. Connected users must respond to some, but not all, of these events. A brief description of each of the rebuild phases follows:
