A data class is a set of data set allocation attributes and associated values. You can define, alter, display, and list a data class by using the ISMF data class panels. In addition to the previously available values, you can now specify the E3 value for the recording technology attribute EFMT3, and the EE3 value for the recording technology attribute EEFMT3 on the data class define/alter panel. For EEFMT3 (or the media interchange recording format EEFMT2), an existing panel is displayed for the user to enter the Key Labels and Encoding Mechanisms. The existing Performance Scaling and Performance Segmentation data class options, applicable with MEDIA5 and MEDIA9, can also be used with the new recording formats EFMT3 and EEFMT3.
