z/OS JES2 Initialization and Tuning Guide
SA32-0991-00

Line speeds, processor speeds, length of the path between nodes, and other factors determine how fast your network gets data from one node to another. The amount of data can also delay the data in reaching its final destination. For more information about JES2 initialization parameters that can impact performance greatly, see Queuing messages to a multi-access SPOOL node.

JES2 uses compression and compaction to minimize the amount of data sent through the network.
