DORMANCY=(mmmm, nnnn) parameter on the MASDEF statement

z/OS JES2 Initialization and Tuning Guide
SA32-0991-00

The DORMANCY= parameter specifies both the minimum time interval (mmmm) that a member must wait, after releasing the checkpoint data set, before attempting to regain control of it and the maximum time interval (nnnn) that this member is allowed to wait before attempting to acquire the checkpoint data set. This parameter and the HOLD= parameter can prevent one member of the configuration from monopolizing the checkpoint data set by acquiring it too frequently.
