The temporary file system includes these features:
- Attributes unique to z/OS UNIX are supported
(for example, external symbolic links and the create time attribute)
and is not part of a branded product.
- Access control lists (ACLs) are supported. The number of ACL entries
that TFS supports is limited by the block size. Each ACL takes one
TFS block. For example, if the TFS block size is set to 4K (the default
is -b0), the number of ACL entries in any ACL is limited to approximately
500. For more information about ACLs, see Using access control lists (ACLs).
- You can set up basic partitioned access method (BPAM) access to
files in the TFS. Each TFS directory is treated as if it were a PDSE
or PDS directory. For an introduction to BPAM, see z/OS DFSMS Using Data Sets.
For a discussion about reading UNIX files with BPAM, see z/OS DFSMS Using Data Sets.
