If no one at your installation intends to use vi, a superuser can get rid of the exrecover mail messages as follows:
If your installation has some users who will be editing with vi, then it's a little trickier. In this case, your vi users will want the recovery capabilities of vi, so you do not want to remove the exrecover command from /etc/rc. Anyone can remove those /tmp/VI* files that were generated when users on dumb terminals tried vi. To stop exrecover from sending new mail messages about those files:
