Creating JCL for direct-printing mode

When a job requires direct-printing mode, the PRINTDEV JCL statement is included in the JCL for the job. No PSF startup procedure is used. Some parameters can be specified in the PRINTDEV JCL statement rather than in an OUTPUT or DD statement. The PRINTDEV statement is described in PSF for z/OS: Customization.

Some of the parameters described in this topic do not apply if the printer is in direct-printing mode. If a parameter does not apply, its description includes a statement to that effect.

Note:
Some printers cannot be used in direct-printing mode. To see if your printer supports direct-printing mode, see the documentation provided with the printer.
