How PSF uses the Printer Inventory

When PSF starts, it determines whether the Printer Inventory is used. If the PARM field of the EXEC statement contains INV=piname as the first parameter, PSF ignores any other PARM parameters specified and connects to the Printer Inventory specified. PSF then calls the Infoprint Server to get FSS parameters from the Printer Inventory.

When an FSA is started, PSF gets the PRINTDEV JCL parameters and then calls the Infoprint Server to get the FSA parameters from the Printer Inventory. Those parameters specified in the Printer Inventory override the equivalent parameters in the PRINTDEV. Any parameters available in the Printer Inventory, but not specified, are ignored if they are specified in the PRINTDEV.

Those parameters specified in the Printer Inventory override the equivalent parameters set during the Exit 7 INIT call. Any parameters available in the Printer Inventory, but not specified, are ignored if they are set in the Exit 7 INIT call.
