Rotating tires or wheels

You rotate tires or wheels into different positions on an asset axle configuration to help prevent uneven wear. After rotation, you can record tread depth or wear readings to check that the tires or wheels are within tolerances.

About this task

At the conclusion of position rotation, there must be a tire or wheel in each position, with no duplicate position numbers.

Procedure

  1. In the Work Order Tracking (Tr) application, display or create a work order for the asset that you want to rotate positions for.
  2. Click the Axle Configuration tab, then click Rotate Positions.
  3. On the Rotate Positions window, specify a new axle position for each position that you want to move.
  4. Click OK. You cannot close the Rotate Positions if there are any duplicate or missing position numbers.
  5. Optional: On the Axle Positions tab, specify new readings, such as tread depth or wear, for tires or wheels.
  6. Optional: Specify new pressure readings for tires.
  7. Check whether the positions are out of tolerance.

What to do next

If any tires or wheels are out of tolerance, take corrective action. For example, rotate some tires or wheels to new positions, so that they are within tolerance for the axle. Or issue a different tire or wheel to one or more positions.
