RHCOS images
To use Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS (RHCOS) images to provision virtual machines, you need to first download the images from the RHCOS image mirror. The images then can be uploaded to IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center to provision a virtual machine.
z/VM
Supported versions: 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5 .
Virtual machines created by the ZVM RHCOS image do not support soft restart, snapshot and attach volume.
Two types of RHCOS images are supported.
RHCOS DASD images
For DASD, download:
rhcos-<version>-s390x-dasd.s390x.raw.gz
Decompress the file, then upload it to IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center, please refer to Uploading Image to Deploy Virtual Machines from local storage
The supported root disk type for the image is ECKD only
Note: For z/VM, The disk type in IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center is configured by
compute_disk_pool
of/opt/ibm/icic/config.properties
in the management node, please refer to Set up the configuration file. Only the ECKD disk type can be used for RHCOS DASD image.RHCOS SCSI images
For SCSI, download:
rhcos-<version>-s390x-metal.s390x.raw.gz
Decompress the file, then upload it to IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center, please refer to Uploading Image for Booting Virtual Machines from Volume
The supported root disk type for the image is SCSI disk with FCP device, please refer to Boot From Volume
KVM
Supported version: 4.5 .
Download:
rhcos-<version>-s390x-openstack.s390x.qcow2.gz
Decompress the file, then upload it to IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center, please refer to Uploading Image to Deploy Virtual Machines from Local Storage
