Installing Predictive Insights

Use IBM® Installation Manager to install or update Predictive Insights.

You can install a Predictive Insights component only on the server on which you are running the IBM Installation Manager. You can use IBM Installation Manager in administrator, nonadministrator, or group mode to install Predictive Insights.

Table 1. Installation Manager user modes
Mode Description
administrator You can use administrator mode when you have root privileges. In administrator mode, you can use Installation Manager to install Predictive Insights in a common location that is accessible by all users on a system. You can install only one administrator instance of Installation Manager on a computer. If you run the install.sh from the predictiveInsightsInstaller1.3.6 folder as root, Installation Manager starts in administrator mode.
nonadministrator In nonadministrator mode, you can install Predictive Insights in a location that is accessible only by the user who installs Installation Manager. You can install only one instance of Installation Manager for each user on a computer. If you run the install.sh from the predictiveInsightsInstaller1.3.6 folder as a non-root user, Installation Manager starts in nonadministrator mode.
group In group mode, you can use Installation Manager to install Predictive Insights as any user in a Linux® group. However, you can update the Predictive Insights installation only as the same user that completed the initial installation.

To install Predictive Insights in group mode, you must first install Installation Manager in group mode and then start Installation Manager in group mode. For more information, see the Installation Manager documentation on IBM® Knowledge Center.

After you start Installation Manager in group mode, add the Predictive Insights repository from the predictiveInsightsInstaller1.3.6/offering directory and follow the standard installation instructions for Predictive Insights.
