IBM Performance Management

Installing multiple offerings

The IBM® Performance Management offerings enable you to start with any offering and install another offering. Any existing configurations and customizations are kept intact. Back up all of the server components before you install a new offering.

About this task

The following table shows the possible combinations of offerings that you can install together.

When you already installed one of the offerings and you select another compatible offering, the new offering is installed with the existing offering. Installation of the server might take longer than a pristine installation because various components are being stopped and started during the procedure. When you start the installation script, you receive a report of what offering or offerings are installed now, what will be installed, and what the resulting offering or offerings are after installation is complete.

The backup.sh script that you run to back up the server configuration completes an online backup of the DB2® database. If the database is not configured for online backup, an offline backup is completed and the DB2 instance is temporarily stopped.

Procedure

  1. Back up all of the server components and configurations. Run the install_dir/ccm/backup.sh script on the Performance Management server to generate the backup file. To list all available parameters for this script, run it with the -h option.
    • If you want to, you can specify a name for the backup file and the administrator's user ID and password. By default, the script creates a backup TAR file in the install_dir/backups directory.
    • If your system includes an external DB2 database, copy the install_dir/ccm/backup.sh script to the computer where DB2 is installed and run the backup.sh script (only DB2 is backed up).
    • Some agents are configured differently depending on which agent package is used to install the agent. The following agents need to be re-installed or reconfigured after the offering type is changed:
For more information about running the backup.sh script, see Backing up components.
  2. Download and install the server. For details, see Downloading and installing the server.

Results

The new offering is installed with the existing offering.
