Configuring the IBM Integration Bus agent
The IBM® Integration Bus agent is a multiple instance agent. You must create a first agent instance and start it manually.
Procedure
- Make sure the user ID that will be used to start and stop the IBM Integration Bus agent belongs to the mqm and mqbrkrs user groups.
- Specify the PATH environment variable for the IBM Integration Bus agent so the agent can load the required WebSphere® MQ) libraries to start. For instructions on how to set the PATH value, see the important note in the agent configuration topic.
- To configure the agent, the following configuration parameters are required. There are also
some optional configuration parameters that you can specify for the agent. For detailed
instructions, see Configuring the IBM Integration Bus agent.
- Agent ID
- The installation directory of brokers that are to be monitored
- The 64-bit library path of IBM MQ (WebSphere MQ)
- If you have enabled snapshot data collection for your broker, configure the IBM Integration Bus agent not to store any snapshot data. For instructions, see Disabling snapshot data collection for the agent.
- Optional: By default, some accounting and statistics data are not generated by IBM Integration Bus. For the relevant group widgets to contain data, you must first enable statistics data collection with IBM Integration Bus runtime commands. Otherwise, the group widgets are empty. For instructions, see Enabling statistics data collection for IBM Integration Bus.
- Optional: To configure the agent to collect transaction tracking data of the monitored brokers, you must
configure both the broker and the agent.
- To configure the broker, use the agent provided user exit. For instructions, see Configuring IBM Integration Bus for transaction tracking.
- To configure the IBM Integration Bus agent, use the Agent Configuration page. For instructions, see Configuring transaction tracking for the IBM Integration Bus agent
- Optional: If you no longer need the transaction tracking function or you want to uninstall the IBM Integration Bus agent, remove the agent provided user exit. For instructions, see Removing the KQIUserExit user exit.
- Configuring the IBM Integration Bus agent
You must assign an instance name to the IBM Integration Bus agent and configure the agent before it can start monitoring your IBM Integration Bus environment. - Enabling statistics data collection for IBM Integration Bus
You must enable statistics data collection for message flows or resources in the broker before you can view monitoring data in the group widgets provided by the IBM Integration Bus agent. - Configuring IBM Integration Bus for transaction tracking
Before the IBM Integration Bus agent can be configured to collect transaction tracking data, you must enable IBM Integration Bus for transaction tracking with the agent provided user exit. - Disabling snapshot data collection for the agent
IBM Performance Management does not support snapshot accounting and statistics data due to the amount of data and processing required for the set 20 second snapshot interval. If you have enable snapshot data collection for the broker, remember to configure the IBM Integration Bus agent not to store the snapshot data. - Configuring transaction tracking for the IBM Integration Bus agent
Transaction tracking data for IBM Integration Bus can be displayed in the middleware and topology dashboards after you enable the data collection on the Agent Configuration page for the IBM Integration Bus agent. - Removing the KQIUserExit user exit
Before you uninstall the IBM Integration Bus agent, you must first remove the KQIUserExit user exit.
