Setting up WebSphere Automation

The WebSphere Automation UI contains several configuration options that must be set up. To manage these configurations, you must log in to the WebSphere Automation with a profile that has appropriate permissions.

To set up permissions for the users who have access to the WebSphere Automation UI, see Roles and permissions.

To begin monitoring servers for security vulnerabilities or health issues, the WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Application Server Liberty servers that you want to monitor must be configured to communicate with WebSphere Automation. Registering a server enables it for security monitoring. More configuration is necessary for health issue monitoring. For more information, see Setting up security monitoring.

To begin monitoring servers for health issues, you must install and configure Instana, and install the Instana agent on the servers to be managed. More configuration is necessary for secure communication. For more information, see Setting up health monitoring.

To communicate updates to security or health status for managed servers, an SMTP server and a list of email addresses to receive notifications must be configured. For more information, see Configuring notifications.
