Enabling or disabling trace for logs

You can enable and disable trace for Sterling Order Management System logs.

About this task

Follow this procedure if you want to start or stop the trace for Sterling Order Management System logs such as application logs, agent logs, and integration logs.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Application Console.
  2. Go to System > Launch System Management
  3. Click Tools > Trace component. The Trace component window is displayed.
  4. Select the Component Type and Component Name.
  5. Select the Trace Level as VERBOSE to get detailed logs.
Once you start the trace, until you stop it, the component is traced and details are recorded in the corresponding logs.
Note: The traces that are set for collecting logs expire by default after 10 minutes from the time they are started. You can update the TTL up to 1440 minutes. For more information, see Extending trace expiry time for logs.

What to do next

  • To see the details of the component that is traced, extract the logs. For more information, see Exporting application logs.
  • You can then analyze the logs as required. For example, you can analyze the logs for specific information like PII data. The application code removes all PII data. However, any custom code that outputs the PII data must be taken care by customers themselves.
  • Use the Exporting MQ logs self-serve process to download the logs that are generated by the IBM MQ server.
