IBM PowerHA® SystemMirror for AIX® detects system failures and
manages failover to a recovery processor with a minimal loss of user
time.
The
hardware requirements for configuring a
Tivoli® Storage
Manager server for
failover are:
- A hardware configuration that is suitable for PowerHA. The removable media
storage devices
for the Tivoli Storage
Manager server
must be physically connected to at least two nodes of the PowerHA cluster on a shared
bus (including a SAN).
- Sufficient shared (twin-tailed) disk
space to hold the Tivoli Storage
Manager database,
recovery logs, instance directory, and disk storage pools to be used.
See Managing the database and recovery log to
determine how much space is required for the database and recovery
log and to ensure the availability of the database and recovery log.
- A TCP/IP network.
Tip: If a Tivoli Storage
Manager server
manages
removable media storage devices, you can configure two Tivoli Storage
Manager servers
to run on different systems in an PowerHA cluster.
Either system can run both servers if the other system fails. To configure
two Tivoli Storage
Manager servers
to run on different systems in an PowerHA cluster,
use another file system that is accessible to both servers.
