Technical solution

The Workload Simulator scenario describes one way of setting up and running large workloads to test an application and its underlying infrastructure for performance problems.

Initial IT configuration
Company A has an existing insurance application that runs in a CICS® topology that is managed by CICSPlex® SM. The company wants to simulate workloads to ensure that the application performs efficiently and effectively under a heavy workload before moving the application into a production environment.
Delivered logical topology
The system administrator adds Workload Simulator to the logical partition and configures it to communicate with CICS. The test implementer can simulate workloads for terminal users and web service requests to understand the effects on the system.
Production physical topology
The production physical topology specifies the recommended operational environment (hardware, operating systems, and software products) for running the applications and services of the solution.
