Getting help in the CICS Explorer

The CICS Explorer® has help information built in to the product and includes a number of ways of searching for additional help.

When you first start the CICS Explorer, you have the option of launching a tutorial, which describes the different parts of the CICS Explorer and how to use the features and functions. It also explains the different ways in which you can get help as outlined in the following information:

Context or F1 help
Context help is available for every view and the data in the view. When you have selected a view, pressing the F1 key (Ctrl+F1 on Linux®) displays the Dynamic Help view, which provides a short description of the view. Links take you to additional, more detailed help topics. When you select a resource and display the data in the Properties or the editor view, pressing the F1 key (Ctrl+F1 on Linux) displays help for the attribute.
Help Contents
The main help for the CICS Explorer is available by clicking Help Contents from the workbench Help menu. The Help Contents opens in a new window and contains the tutorial, example tasks, and reference information. The Help Contents is also searchable from a search field, which is in the upper-right corner of the help page.
Dynamic Help
The Dynamic Help view opens inside the CICS Explorer workbench. It displays the context help and you can bookmark topics or find related topics. From the Dynamic Help view, you can set up the search scope to search on remote content. You can search for information in remote information centers, either through an intranet or the internet, and you can search using external Web search engines such as Google.

Details of how to use the search facilities are all included in the Help Contents in the CICS Explorer.
