CICS® statistics
are enhanced to provide more information that relates to the load,
capacity, and performance of the system. This information can aid
decisions about vertical and horizontal scalability.
The following sections list the CICS statistics
enhancements.
The statistics utility program can
handle more CICS regions
The
maximum number of CICS regions
(APPLIDs) that the statistics utility program, DFHSTUP, can process,
is increased from 520 to 2000. This change provides the flexibility
to include all CICS regions
in a single statistics report.
Changes to statistics data collection
defaults
- The default recording interval for system statistics is changed
from 3 hours to 1 hour, so that by default, useful CICS system and resource data is collected more
frequently. This change applies to the following parameters and commands:
- The STATINT system initialization parameter
- The STATRCD system initialization parameter
when STATRCD=ON.
- The INTERVAL option of the CEMT and EXEC CICS SET STATISTICS commands.
The Data Tables Storage report provides
storage totals
The data tables storage reports, produced
using the DFH0STAT sample statistics program, now provide storage
totals, so that it is easier to monitor how much storage data tables
are using. The storage allocated and storage in use for the data table,
the entries, and the data is totalled for each data table that is
listed in the Data Tables Storage report.
Loader domain statistics provide
values for RO TCB
The loader domain global statistics now provide
separate values for program load requests that ran on the RO TCB,
and for the time taken for these requests. You can use these values
to see the proportion of program load operations that ran on open
TCBs.
Monitoring domain statistics include
address space management
The monitoring domain statistics show
whether z/OS® Workload Manager
(WLM) manages the CICS address
space using region goals, transaction goals, or both.
Monitoring domain statistics include
CEC machine type and model number
The monitoring domain statistics
show the CEC machine type and CEC model number for the physical hardware
environment where the CICS region
is running. CEC (central electronics complex) is a commonly used synonym
for CPC (central processing complex).
Storage manager statistics include
the GUDSA and GSDSA
The storage manager statistics now show
data related to the above-the-bar user DSA (GUDSA) and above-the-bar
shared DSA (GSDSA), and additional data related to the above-the-bar
CICS DSA (GCDSA).
New fields are provided in the Storage above
2 GB report, produced using the DFH0STAT sample statistics program.
