Setting DbExecute connections

A DbExecute connection enables a workflow to access and run a procedure that is stored in an external database through the DbExecute system function in Process Designer.

Start of change

Before you begin

Before you create a new DbExecute connection, you must configure XA and non-XA JDBC providers for the database type of the DBExecute database on the application server to ensure that the appropriate JDBC drivers are configured.End of change

About this task

You can configure the external connections for the workflow system by specifying database parameters. The database parameters that you specify form the JDBC driver URL. The JDBC driver URL enables a database connection for the workflow system. Alternatively, you can configure a JDBC driver URL manually if you know the format for the database type (such as DB2®, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server) of the external database. You can also test the database connection to confirm that the JDBC driver URL, database user name, and password are valid.

Procedure

To set a DbExecute connection:

  1. Access the DbExecute Connections tab in the administration console:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, select the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click Administrative > Workflow System.
    3. In the details pane, click the DbExecute Connections tab.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the connection information and database parameters.
  4. Click Validate to test the database connection.
