Assign the lifecycle policy to a new document

About this task

You usually assign a default lifecycle policy to the document class. This helps users consistently apply the same lifecycle policy when adding new documents to the Content Platform Engine.

However, when you add a document by using the New Document wizard in the administration console, you can select any lifecycle policy, even if it is not the default policy for the selected document class. You can also remove the default lifecycle policy from a new document by selecting <none> as the lifecycle policy (instead of using the default policy assigned to the document class.)

After you assign a lifecycle policy to a document, you cannot remove it from the document. In addition, you cannot assign a lifecycle policy to an already existing document.

Procedure

To assign a document lifecycle policy to a new document:

  1. Start the New Document wizard in the administration console.
    1. In the domain navigation pane, select the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click Browse > Root Folder.
    3. Right-click the folder for the new document and click New Document.
  2. In the Advanced Features page, select a lifecycle policy for the new document.
  3. Complete the wizard.
